Toddler Program

An academic program for students 18 months - 2.9 years.

Toddlers are remarkable — full of energy, determination, and curiosity. We honor these qualities by preparing a nurturing environment where your child builds independence, confidence, and a joyful love of learning.

A Prepared Classroom for Young Learners

A Montessori classroom for toddlers safely supports your child’s drive to do things alone, developing confidence and a sense of competence. The environment is language-rich, with adults using proper nomenclature rather than baby talk so that the children are exposed to and develop a broad vocabulary. Adults also support toddlers in communicating with each other. A range of books allows children to explore on their own or read aloud with an adult.

Introduction to Language and Math

Introductory language and math are woven naturally into everyday experiences. Children build vocabulary through rich conversation, songs, stories, and hands-on materials that connect spoken words to real objects and actions.

Early mathematical thinking develops through concrete exploration—sorting, matching, sequencing, and counting with purposeful materials that make abstract ideas visible and meaningful. Through repetition and independence, toddlers strengthen concentration, coordination, and confidence, laying a joyful foundation for reading, writing, and number sense in the years ahead.

Practical Life: Nurturing Independence

Your child has a natural drive toward independence, which we nurture by preparing an environment where everything is just the right size for her to succeed on her own. A child-sized broom empowers her to care for her space. She learns essential self-care skills, including toilet learning, in a respectful and supportive setting. Through these concrete life experiences, your child develops confidence, capability, and—most importantly—the belief that she can make a meaningful impact on her world.

Sensorial: Discovering Order in the World

Sensorial work helps toddlers organize what they experience through their senses — touch, sight, sound, smell, taste, movement, and spatial awareness. In a Montessori toddler environment, materials isolate one quality at a time (color, size, texture, weight), making learning clear and concrete.

A Space Designed for Curiosity and Growth

Our bright and sunny toddler classroom is thoughtfully designed for children ages 18 months to 2.9 years. It is a world carefully scaled to your child’s size. Here, your child paints, waters the garden, sings with friends, and works with materials that strengthen both fine and gross motor coordination.

A Community Environment That Inspires Learning

Where so many early childhood programs are chaotic and overwhelming, parents are often surprised to see the peaceful tone of our toddler classroom. The calm atmosphere and lack of distraction helps the child to develop impulse control and concentration, planting the seeds for learning in this classroom and beyond.

Our students grow together into a close-knit, caring community. When children work, learn and grow together, they learn much more than any of them could learn alone!

A Joyful Beginning

Dr. Maria Montessori once said, “One test of the correctness of the educational procedure is the happiness of the child.” Take a peek into our Toddler classroom and you will see children who are happy, engaged and deeply connected to their friends and teachers. As a result, your child develops a deep affinity for school and a true love-for-learning.

Growing Toward the Next Level

Sometime between the ages of 2 1/2 to 3 years of age, your child’s language skills and self-expression will develop rapidly; he will express a growing confidence in independence and a keen interest in broader concepts; he will want to know what lies ahead, outside of the Toddler Classroom. At this point, he is ready to move up to the Children's House program, for children from the ages of 2.9 to 6.
