Susan Lavoie

Montessori Consultant

Susan Lavoie has served as a Montessori Guide for over twenty-five years. She holds a Montessori Teaching Diploma in Primary/Kindergarten from the North American Montessori Center (NAMC) in Vancouver, Canada. She is trained in both the Toddler and Children’s House levels and holds Director Certification.

Mrs. Lavoie interest in Montessori education was inspired by her experience as a parent of twin children. Throughout her career, she has been committed to supporting the holistic development of young learners by fostering independence, self-confidence, and a strong sense of self. She embraces the Montessori principle of “following the child,” allowing each student to progress at an individual pace while cultivating curiosity and intrinsic motivation for learning.

Her educational philosophy reflects the Montessori understanding that children initially explore and interpret the world through sensory experience. As articulated in Montessori theory, “There is nothing in the mind that is not first in the hands.” Mrs. Lavoie recognizes sensory engagement as foundational to the development of cognition and the construction of intellectual understanding.

Outside of her professional work, Mrs. Lavoie enjoys spending time in nature, walking, listening to country music, dancing, cooking and creating memories with her family.
