Transition Workshop

We held an exciting, interactive, informative workshop on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. For those that joined us, we hope that you found the information informative and helpful. Thank you very much for attending and for sharing your own thoughts and questions about child development in the elementary years.

We have put together an electronic packet so the entire Pincushion Community has full access to the information from the workshop. The workshop covered quite a bit of information ranging from Montessori Education, Child Development, the Importance of Nature, Executive Function and Self-Regulation, as well as the Importance of STEM/STEAM. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math)

As you are aware, in addition to our holistic, child-led curriculum, we are mindfully increasing our STEM/STEAM options at Pincushion. From current research and discussions with our Pincushion parents, we know that by being progressive with our STEM/STEAM offerings, the children at Pincushion Hill will be well prepared for the future.

Our STEM/STEAM program is growing. After school enrichments include exciting, hands-on programs: LEGO STEAM (for 3 and 4 year olds), Computer Coding (ages 5 and up), Art (all ages), First Lego League Jr (ages 5 and up), and Music (all ages). Our Spring Session just started and there are still openings. Sign up today! See the information sheet in the packet for details.

We are continuing our STEM/STEAM studies throughout the summer. The theme of the summer program is Space Exploration. Join us for one week, two weeks, or more, even the entire summer…as we explore various topics related to space. We look forward to having many exciting offerings. In addition, Mrs. Lovell will be joining us from July 9th to July 27th, to offer coding, robotics, and more.

Currently, we use technology in the Elementary Classroom for research, computer keyboarding, and computer coding. In addition, we will be offering a world language program to interested families of children ages 5 and up. This web-based program will be offered in addition to our Spanish program. If you choose to have your child participate, he or she will take part in a language lab twice per week where he or she will have the opportunity to learn one of 25 languages (Chinese, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Italian, Polish, Russian, Spanish, among many others). We will also be creating a Maker Space for Pincushion children (all ages) to use. The Maker Space will have a wealth of materials the children can use to design, collaborate, and create.

We hope you find this information helpful and look forward to hosting more events like this in the future.
